Für den iOS 5 beta Jailbreak steht neben Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 für OS X und Windows nun auch Sn0wbreeze in der Version Sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 1 zum Download bereit. Auch der Download von Sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 1 bietet nur ein tethered Jailbreak von iOS 5 beta an und richtet sich ebenfalls ausschließlich an Entwickler. Allerdings schützt Sn0wbreeze vor einem Baseband Update (für Software-Unlock)!
Wie gesagt – der Download von Sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 1 ist ebenfalls „nur für Developer“ mit passendem Account zur Aktivierung des Devices gedacht. Die Release Notes zu Sn0wbreeze 2.8 b1 lesen sich wie folgt:

Das Baseband wird auch unter Sn0wbreeze 2.8 b1 vor einem Update geschützt wie @iH8Sn0w hier per Twitter bestätigt hat – allerdings ist Ultrasn0w noch nicht iOS 5 kompatibel, deshalb NICHT UPDATEN mit Baseband Protection!
