Kaum ist der Download von iOS 5 beta 4 verfügbar können wir auch schon den erfolgreichen (tethered) Jailbreak von iOS 5 b4 vermelden. Das iPhone Dev-Team hat redsn0w 0.9.8 b4 für den iOS 5 beta 4 Jailbreak fitgemacht und steht für Jailbreak Developer zum Download bereit!
Übrigens: das neue OTA (Over the Air Update) funktioniert nicht bei iPhone & Co. mit Jailbreak wie Musclenerd per Twitter nochmals verlauten lässt. Somit ist es Apple NICHT möglich, den Jailbreak per forced OTA Update auf dem Device zu „löschen“:
- The 5.0b4 OTA update won’t work on JB devices due to an explicit check of /Applications..almost like a present from Apple (Quelle)
Ansonsten ermöglicht redsn0w 0.9.8 b4 den tethered Jailbreak von iOS 5 beta 4. Dazu muss redsn0w auf die aktuelle iOS 5 beta 4 zeigen. So zu lesen auch im Blogpost zum neuen redsn0w:
Update #4: In conjunction with iOS5 beta4 being released to iOS developers, redsn0w 0.9.8b4 is now available for jailbreak app developers (point the b4 redsn0w at the b4 IPSW). Remember, it’s a tethered jailbreak right now so you’ll need to use redsn0w to boot into a jailbroken state at each power cycle.
NOTE: It appears that by design, the OTA update that became available starting with iOS 5 beta4 will *not* be automatically applied to jailbroken devices. That’s a relief to those who don’t want to lose their jailbreak via OTA pushes. If you’re jailbroken, you’ll need to use the standard iTunes method to get to iOS 5 beta4.
