Das 4 Zoll Retina Display könnte mit dem Apple iPhone 5 tatsächlich Wirklichkeit werden. Die 4 Zoll Retina Screens fürs neue Apple iPhone 5 sollen von Hitachi und Sony geliefert werden. Weiterhin befinde sich das iPad 3 Display bereits in Auslieferung während das iPad 4 mit einer komplett neuen Screen-Technologie daherkommen soll.

Ein größeres Display mit 4 Zoll wurde bereits in der 2011er iPhone (jetzt iPhone 4S) Gerüchteküche sehr heiß gekocht. Doch bislang werden alle Apple iPhone mit einem 3,5 Zoll Screen mit und ohne Retina Display bestückt. Die japanische Webseite macotakara.jp will jetzt wissen:

Weiterhin sollen die Displaysparten von Hitachi und Sony im Frühjahr 2012 mit Toshiba zu „Japan Display“ verschmelzen.

Aber jetzt mal Butter bei die Fische: Braucht das iPhone 5 wirklich das 4 Zoll Display? Aus ergonomischer Sicht macht das 3,5 Zoll Screen bei den aktuellen iPhone Modellen durchaus Sinn, denn dadurch ist eine einhändige Bedienung problemlos möglich.

Ebenfalls schwierig dürfte die „Skalierung“ von Apps auf das neue Display sein. Alternativ ist natürlich denkbar, dass Apple die Pixeldichte im iPhone 5 reduziert um die Auflösung beizubehalten (iPhone 4S: 960 x 640 Pixel bei 326 Pixel pro Zoll)
