NFC wird kommen. Mit NFC (Near Field Communication) soll das problemlose (und berührungslose) Bezahlen mit dem Telefon möglich werden – und die Chancen stehen gut, dass Apple im iPhone 5 NFC integriert. Doch um die Bezahlung via NFC großflächig zu etablieren und interessant zu machen muss eine kritische Masse an Händlern mit dieser Bezahloption überschritten werden.
In einem Gespräch mit einem leitenden Mastercard Angestellten stellt 9to5mac hier heraus: Apple könnte Bezahlen mit NFC in Kooperation mit MasterCard bereits im iPhone 5 verwirklichen. Wirklich zugeben wollte Ed McLaughlin dies zwar nicht, aber das Gespräch zeigt eindeutig in diese Richtung:
That’s a combination of having a critical mass of the merchants, which is what you’re seeing right now, and getting devices into the hands of consumers. I don’t know of a handset manufacturer that isn’t in process of making sure their stuff is PayPass ready.”
– So that would include Apple then?
“Um, there are…like I say, [I don’t know of] any handset maker out there,” McLaughlin says.
