Mit Apple HomeKit hat sich das kalifornische Unternehmen auch dem Bereich Smart Home gewidmet, der natürlich speziell in der Zukunft noch wichtig sein dürfte. Im Vergleich mit Google Assistant schneidet Apple aber laut Aussagen von Google selbst deutlich hinter Googles Dienst ab.

Laut Googles Aussage ist Google Assistant mittlerweile mit über 5.000 Devices kompatibel, darunter Kameras, Türklingeln, Waschmaschinen oder Spülmaschinen. Wie Google weiterhin ausgeführt hat, hat sich die Zahl seit Januar 2018 deutlich vergrößert (via Google):
Over the past year, we’ve made great progress ensuring that the Google Assistant can work with all types of connected devices, and now every major device brand works with the Assistant in the U.S.
Just how many devices is that? Today, the Google Assistant can connect with more than 5,000 devices for your home—up from 1,500 this January. That includes cameras, dishwashers, doorbells, dryers, lights, plugs, thermostats, security systems, switches, vacuums, washers, fans, locks, sensors, heaters, AC units, air purifiers, refrigerators, ovens … we can keep on going!
Smart Home als wichtiger Markt für die Zukunft
Apple selbst gibt für HomeKit auf der eigenen Website rund 200 kompatible Geräte an, also deutlich weniger als Google. Um im bald wohl hart umkämpften Markt der Smart-Home-Devices erfolgreich zu sein, muss Apple also noch nachlegen.
